Between Mandrem and Morjim
The order along the coast goes Arambol, Mandrem, Ashwem, Morjim, then the Chapora river mouth and Vagator. Ashwem sits in the northern stretch of the coast, between Mandrem and Morjim. The beach is long and wide, and in the dry season, roughly November to March, it is a pleasant place to be from early morning.
People come for space. For practice this works well because nothing pulls your attention away: you step onto the mat and spend time with your body.
For a traveller this is a handy spot: Mandrem and Morjim are both close, so you can pick a class in any of the three places and reach it without a long trip.

What practice by the sea gives you
A morning by the water is a gentle warm-up: after sleep the body wants to stretch, and an easy hatha class loosens the back, hips and shoulders. By midday it is hot, so early hours are the most comfortable.
In the evening the shore is spacious: after a class it is pleasant to walk along the water while breath and stride settle. The schedule differs between the season and the monsoon, so check it on the map.
If you are just starting, any gentle class will do. Hatha gives a clear structure and yin teaches you to slow down. It is better to begin with a light load and build up than to do too much on the first day.
